Dear Editor
I agree wholeheartedly with Mrs. Sue McDonald, I am also shocked at the ease with which some interpret the Law. In this case, with the consequence of terminating an animal’s life. I have no doubt that “Ernie” the Dingo was granted due process.
Driving along the road, I always made a point of looking for Ernie, seeing a Dingo in such proximity of people, is special. He never looked threatening to me, more so, he looked a part of the landscape. Aside of, maybe, scaring someone for the simple fact of Ernie being a dog, had he ever shown any aggressiveness ? No on the contrary, I found him rather shy.
Council reacting to complaints from “would-be-nice-and- proper-BUT-bourgeois” residents and tourists makes for bad judgment. It was surely a “knee jerk reaction” and a mistake to terminate Ernie’s life.
Kindly and respectfully,
Daniel Schoch.
