Get up off the couch on Sunday 3 June, for the Scenic Rim Regional Council Healthy and Active Community Expo at Wyaralong
People of all ages and fitness levels are being encouraged to get up off the couch for Sunday 3 June, when the Scenic Rim Regional Council cohosts a free Healthy and Active Community Expo at Wyaralong.
The action-packed day will include footy and cricket skills clinics, exercise and healthy cooking demonstrations, information stalls, games and giveaways, all aimed at promoting the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle.
Whether you’d like to pick up some pointers from your favourite sporting hero, learn how to look after your health and wellbeing, or even take up a new sport or hobby, there will be something for everyone on the day.
Footy fans will enjoy the rugby league skills clinic run by former Brisbane Broncos players Mick De Vere and Tonie Carroll. There will also be AFL and soccer clinics with representatives from both codes attending.
Queensland Cricket will be holding skills and drills demonstrations, and followers of netball can check out the fantastic ‘shoot-the-hoop’ event.
Those keen to try something a bit different will be able to take part in Zumba, pilates, juggling, hula hoop and ribbon twirling clinics and demonstrations, while the kids will be entertained by popular children’s theatre group Bazil Grumble’s live interactive performance.
More sports and activities, demonstrations and events will be announced in the lead up to the event, set to run between 10am – 2pm at the Queensland Moto Park, Goan Road, Wyaralong.
The Healthy and Active Community Expo is an initiative of the Scenic Rim Sport and Recreation Plan Steering Committee.
The committee is a partnership between Queensland Population and Health, Sport and Recreation Queensland and Council.
Local sporting and community groups interested in showcasing their healthy and active programs at the Expo should contact Council’s Community Development section on 5540 5111 for more information.
