'This will be one of the most significant documents to come before Council this term', says Mayor
Council has paved the way for the advancement of the much-anticipated Bromelton development area with the adoption of a revised draft
Structure Plan for the precinct.
“This will be one of the most significant documents to come before Council this term,” Mayor John Brent said.
“Two companies have already made a significant commitment to the development of this site and this will lead to employment opportunities.
“Council has strived to lay the groundwork for this future growth area and I pay tribute to all those who have worked towards the achievement of this goal.
“I know of no other South-East Queensland council signing off on a project of this size with the jobs potential it provides.
“Scenic Rim is in the box seat to lead South-East Queensland in jobs growth. Bromelton will drive employment opportunities for the Scenic Rim residents for years to come.”
Community consultation on the Draft Bromelton Structure Plan and Beaudesert Shire Planning Scheme 2007 Amendment Package No. 3 was conducted from 12 December 2011 to 10 February 2012, with reports on the outcomes of this process also adopted by Council at its Ordinary Monthly Meeting.
The draft structure plan will now be referred to the State Government for review. A further consultation process is expected to be undertaken by the Queensland Coordinator-General later this year in relation to the Development Scheme for the Bromelton State Development Area.
This will lay out the statutory framework regulating land use within the development area.
